CB Insights ‘State of AI 2021 Report’ states that “a record 65 artificial intelligence companies reached 1 Billion US dollars plus valuations in 2021, up over five times from the previous year. There were 125 AI unicorns globally at the end of 2021. In the fourth quarter, 10 new AI vendors joined the unicorn club, including 3 from healthcare”.

- A new global funding record — funding doubled compared to 2020
- The sectors drawing record numbers of $100M+ mega-rounds – including companies raising billion-dollar rounds
- Record number of new unicorn births and the regions with the most AI unicorns today
