Aspinity unveiled its AML100 chip, which they claim is the “world’s first fully analog machine learning chip”. The use cases behind the low power tiny machine learning solution include more battery life for smart “always on” devices, voice enabled wearables, biometric devices and industrial applications (such as vibration and condition monitoring).
In AI funding news
Relex Solutions raised 500 Million Euros at a valuation of 5 Billion Euros post money, in the latest funding round. The Finland based AI company deliver what they term “pragmatic AI” for retail operations. Supply chain issues associated with COVID 19 have spurred demand for advanced analytics and created a window for expansion, with the funds being used for hiring and acquisitions.
Salt Security – is a California, USA based company that delivers Machine Learning based contextual analysis to secure enterprise APIs, – a threat vector that has become a high priority globally. In Series D funding, the company raised 140 million US dollars at a valuation of close to 1.5 billion dollars post money.
AI conferences
We will be keeping a close eye on the 36th conference from the Association for the Advancement of AI. There are thousands of research papers supporting this virtual event and the plenary sessions start on the 24th of February. You can find joining details below and we will also provide a special report on the key trends from this influential gathering of researchers.
Finally, in AI People, we look at bias in the workplace
Liz Grennan, an Associate Partner and Global Co-Leader of Digital Trust at McKinsey & Company, discusses the way that bias in the workplace needs to be challenged. In a post on LinkedIn she says:
“Understanding that we all carry bias, and that as we go through life, we need to unpick and reprogram ourselves is a good mindset for anyone developing digital tools, platforms and systems.”
Governance, bias and access for AI professionals will be a recurring theme as we highlight more thought leaders and influencers in the space.
